I captured this off my350z.com . The OP thinks this indicates a problem. What say you?

Its seems MCR has already reported that the 370z is reaching temps of 135 degrees C on the track (thats 270 degrees F). When that happens the rev limiter is dropped to 5900 rpm (to save your engine at that point).

Why is the Z reaching such a high oil temp in close to stock form? Can we get a factory oil cooler option NISSAN!

What concerns me is that its cold as hell in Japan now too. People will be tracking this car in much hotter temps.

He quoted this site: http://www.370zblog.com/ but it also states the cut out is "temporary".

Hadn't seen anything of it, but for track I'm sure it would need an oil and tranny cooler.

Interesting. Considering I am running my stock N/A Z32 at the track and having no problems what-so-ever. A car from the factory should be able to do a track day just fine.

True, but our idea of track and theirs could be way different. Be something to watch and see if any other reports come out.

Here is an article where the high oil temps are discussed.http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=136547?mktcat=enabler&AID=10364102&PID=3179973&kw=N&synpartner=edmunds&mktid=cj260233

More specifically. If you're someone who does track days, you'll be interested in the optional Sport package with its bigger tires and bigger brakes. You might also be interested in the special Nismo parts fitted to this test car, an engine oil cooler and an oil cooler for the limited-slip rear differential. The engine's extreme output has made it more sensitive to oil temperature, we understand, so if you're looking for the ability to reach redline throughout a long track session on a warm day, the Nismo bits are a good thing to have (especially since there was even serious discussion about making them a part of the Sport option).

I also read on my350z.com that the same issue has shown up on the G37. For daily driving this is NOT an issue.

Its a sports car. It should be able to go out and do a track day without having to do anything to the car except make sure the oil level is good, you have good brakes, and you have good tires.

If the 370Z is having problems with track days, I will have to think twice about getting one. I can take my 165,000 mile, 15 year old sports car to a track day and not experience any problems. It was even hot and humid at Hallett earlier this year and it still didn't have any problems.

Maybe something with the 3.7 engine. I'm sure it'll be resolved.

but after how many recalls? there's no way the cars arriving at dealerships will have had this problem solved. Could be like the SR, the water pump is so poorly designed it doesn't move any water past 6400rpm. I wouldn't want to buy a sports car I couldn't drive to the track and run around a few times without having to buy aftermarket coolers. like the GTR, hey, it's got enough power to break the tranny, but lets just EF the people who break them, and not put a stronger tranny in it. seems like a super idea. It'll redline at 15,000RPM, but it'll break if you try it.

I saw that article this morning on my350 and my first move was to make a note to develop an oil cooler kit for the 370Z as soon as we get one in the shop.

We plan on having a full kit with a Setrab / Earls cooler, stainless steel lines, and all adapters ready to go within weeks of the 370 being on the market.
