There's a little black square at the very bottom of the 370's rear bumper.... It seems to be a place to put a light, there's a hole where a bulb could fit, and wiring, but nothing in there...... anyone else noticed this? According to the Nissan corporate guys, it could be a light that's required in Jap land, but they didn't know for sure either.

It's also required in Europe.

Yes, it is required in Europe to have a rear fog light. Most cars are just modified for the fog light in Europe, but I guess Nissan chose to keep the area there.

thanks for the info, that clears it up for me! though I still don't understand the need for a rear foglight.

From what I've read it's Euro-centric. England and Germany have requirements for a rear mounted fog light to make it easier for drivers coming up from behind to spot a car in the distance.

If you have ever seen a car with a rear fog light, its quite comical. I believe all Audi's have a rear fog light built into the rear tail lenses, my friend turned his on one night and it was really bright.

Surprised California doesn't require them also.

Give them time.

I see jackholes driving around in their Audi's all the time around here with their rear fog lights on like a bunch of idiots. I'd wager that many of them don't even know what the heck they are when they flip the switch.

Probably think that's the switch to turn on the neons under the car.

I would have to say people in Europe are generally much more intelligent when it comes to cars and driving than Americans.
I would have to say people in Europe are generally much more intelligent when it comes to cars and driving than Americans.Absolutely they are. They understand the rules of the road better. Keep right except to pass and all that.
thanks for the info, that clears it up for me! though I still don't understand the need for a rear foglight. For the same reason that front fog lights are needed. When there is fog, it makes the car easier to see.

The rear fogs are as bright as regular brake lights.

Hopefully one of the first mods for the 370 will be a rear valence with the lack of the square.

I like the square. Makes it look like it has a little diffuser stock.

maybe if there were three more squares spread out across the back it would look more like a diffuser

Look at a F430. It only has one big square, and it has a real diffuser that is useful. Granted, it has a few air guides, but it still only has one "black square guy" in the middle.

Now I can see what you are saying ... to if Nissan added a few air guides, that little square guy would look A-ok in there. Good call Jared.

I have always wanted a rear diffuser on one of my cars.
A simple vinyl overlay or a quick trip to the paint shop will make the lil black square guy go away. It's not a huge deal to cover that up. Although I'm sure that there will be some creative options for it over time.

The fog lights are required in Canada. I would be very interested if anyone had a picture of a 370 with the fog light turned on, or lacking that, some other car with a fog light.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for attaching the fog light?

Yeah it's the same in Aust - we actually have the rear fog light. Even tho it's mid summer here, I actually used it the other night!!!!!!
It's seriously bright!

I have seen a post somewhere where a guy wired it up just like it would be in Europe. I think he said he ordered a "little red lens guy" and small wiring harness from somewhere. lol
Looked pretty cool actually....
