Comparison to S 2000

Hey guys and gals! New here. I'm here researching. My current ride is a stock 05 S 2000, which I love to drive. On the plus side is excellent handling and adequate power. The most fun to drive car I've ever owned. But on the down side, Honda showed no interest in keeping the model up to date. It has AC and stereo and absolutely no other accoutrements. And now Honda has discontinued the S. So I'm looking to trade. The replacement will either be the MX-5 or a Z Roadster. I figure the Mazda will be the closest to what I'm already driving, in terms of weight, handling and power. I drove an 09 Z Coupe at the local Nissan shop this past weekend and it's WAY different than the S. Way more low-end power and torque. You can feel the power in the seat when you accelerate. But the handling felt less responsive. I'm still not sure if it's because the S's handling is better, or if it's just that I'm more used to it. You guys are Z enthusiasts...what do you like and dislike about your babies? Any of you drive S's before? Why'd you change? Let me know.

I am pretty much in the same situation as you. I have an 02 s2000, and the only mods I have on it are Koni Yellows and Eibach springs so handling is awesome, but I'm getting a bit older and my back can't take the stiff suspension like it used to. I test drove the Z coupe and loved the torque and felt like a lexus when you compare in cabin noise between the s2k and Z. Handling felt slightly heavier, but nothing drastic. I also drove the 7AT, because my wife does not want or know how to drive stick.

I would buy the Z in a heart beat, but losing the S and not being able to drop the top is the problem......I guess I will have to keep S and buy a Z just gotta save a little more..Also I would go with a coupe, IMHO the vert is ugly.
